Here are our February 21st fishing reports brought to you by our community
Since the noise of the swimmers and jetski’s are coming down, squid started to show up all around the bay. This pictures are taken at Mud Island, but saying that, Queenscliff, Clifton springs, Point Cook, and Portsea are all producing atm.
Some days the really not easy to get, so changing Jig color, and even jigging technique sometimes help. Broken ground – grass and sand – are the key for success.
Just Out from St Leonards, KGW is on. Over the weekend many boats in the area, and quiet few managed some quality fish. Also, just a bit deeper towards the white lady, quiet few nice gummy sharks got landed.
Off-shore sometimes can be a big disappointment, but when you do land a tuna or a king fish makes it up for all other times. Tuna has been on and off. One day people have 5ways hook ups and the very next day nothing. Even you can see them sometimes you just can not catch them no matter what you do.
On another hand, there is quiet a lot of king fish out there just in front of Barwon Heads. Stick baits, poppers or jigging metal jigs work very good when you find the patch. Lots of fish are undersized and have to go back, but between them we do get some that are legal, or some that do go over a meter.
