Here are our March 17th fishing reports brought to you by our community
There is still lots of tuna from Barwon Heads all the way to Kilcunda. You will see lots of birds around, dolphins, seals and in between them you will see kingfish and tuna. There are days when they go crazy and there a days when does not matter what you do you just can not catch them. Few times we had them all around the boat but they would not take any trolling lure, skirt, popper or stick bait. We did try pilchards and squid as well but nothing.Other days, you just can not keep the lures in the water with triples or charters getting even six and seven ways. But that is fishing.
Port Phillip
In the bay, still lots of snapper in Corio Bay and deep of Mt Martha. Along snapper there is KGW on the chew from St Leonards all the way to Leopold.
Squid also start to show in numbers at Mud Island, Prince George, around Indented Heads and Clifton Springs
Main Attraction – Barrels at Portland
In the last week we seen lots of big tuna from 70 to 120kg coming out from Portland. Just in front of Cape Nelson Lighthouse, at the moment big barrels are in action. The catches are consistent and every day locals are wittnessing 10-15 big fish coming out.
Another major attraction – Bermagui NSW
If you are hardcore fisherman and you like game fishing strong currents are flowing around Merimbula and Bermagui and lots of Marlin are in the area. You do not have to go far from Bermagui to get peice of this action.
Also some Yellowfin tuna and Dolphin fish (mahi-mahi) along with some big sharks there as well!
